Hoardiculture is an online shop for rare and unusual houseplants, created for collectors, curious beginners and anyone who has ever insisted they were only looking.
Behind the shop is one devoted plant collector, curator and occasional maker of questionable botanical decisions. What began as a love of finding the slightly harder-to-source plants gradually grew into a carefully selected collection worth sharing with other plant people across Ireland.
You can expect collector Hoyas, striking Anthuriums, unusual Philodendrons and other botanical oddities chosen for their character, quality and ability to make you reconsider how much windowsill space you actually have.
Whether you are searching for a particular wishlist plant or simply enjoy discovering something you have never seen before, the aim is to make rare houseplants more accessible to collectors throughout Ireland, while keeping the experience personal, honest and enjoyable.
The first catalogue is coming soon, with the first Hoardiculture plant drop arriving at the end of August.

So, how does this whole Hoardiculture thing actually work?
Hoardiculture works in drops.
I release a catalogue of plants available from my suppliers, you pre-order the ones you want, and I bring them over together in the next shipment.
There is method behind this madness.
Rather than keeping hundreds of plants sitting around waiting for someone to buy them, I can choose from a much bigger selection and bring in the plants people actually want.
It also means their journey to Ireland is a little less... chaotic.
The plants are ordered directly from professional growers in the Netherlands and travel to me on specialised plant transport.
In other words, they travel on a truck full of plants, with people whose actual job is transporting plants.
Which I find considerably more reassuring than imagining a Philodendron spending four days wedged between a box of car parts and somebody’s new air fryer.
They arrive directly with me in Galway, where I unload them, check them over and start getting them to their new homes.
If you’re within a reasonable distance, you're welcome to pick your new plant babies in person from Claregalway, or I can meet you somewhere in Galway city. If the size and value of your order makes it feasible, I’ll deliver it myself free of charge.
Yes, there is a possibility that your plant will arrive at your door accompanied by me saying things like, “LOOK AT THIS LEAF.”
For orders travelling further afield, I’ll send them via courier packaged as carefully as I possibly can.
They’ll obviously need to spend some time in a box for that final journey, because unfortunately I have not yet developed plant teleportation, but it means the boxed part of their trip is much shorter than if each plant had been individually shipped all the way from mainland Europe.
The aim is simple: interesting plants, sourced properly, transported sensibly, and handed over to you in the best condition I can manage.
